Reem Acra Wedding Dress
If one word could capture the essence of this dress it would be romance. The style name for this Reem Acra gown is "Grandiose" a name that fits this dress perfectly! It is a floor length ivory gown, with a flattering drop waist, and capped sleeves, which can be worn on or off the shoulders. The neckline is a slightly rounded, portrait style that compliments a woman's décolletage and collarbones. This is a couture gown featuring Swarovski crystals, tiny pearls, silver sequins, and delicate embroidery in silver and ivory thread in intricate patterns on the bodice and skirt. The dress provides shaping and support through an internal corset and a double zipper. This dress is from Reem Acra's Spring 2006 Couture Bridal Collection, style number 3413, style name "Grandiose".
The official photograph of this dress, which appeared in numerous bridal magazines, combined the dress with a dramatic Victorian era lace blouse, complete with ruffled sleeves and a high ruffled neck. This blouse was not purchased with the dress.
The dress was not altered much, only adjustments to the length were made. This dress was a couture gown made for me, so there were not a lot of adjustments made once the gown arrived, about 4 months later!
The veil is also included with the dress. It was professionally cleaned and preserved along with the dress. The purchase price was around $1,200, but comes free with the purchase of the dress, since they are preserved in a box together! It is beautiful, ivory, floor length, and contains a similar motif to what is on the dress, but a little less embellished. The motif contains clear Swarovski crystals, tiny pearls, and silver sequins. The veil attaches to the head via a hair comb that is sewn onto the veil. Even though the veil is floor length, it can be altered to any length that works for you.
The day after the wedding the dress was professionally cleaned, preserved, and boxed by Betsy Robinson's Bridal Collection (Baltimore, MD). The cost was $265. The dress has been stored in a temperature and humidity controlled environment.
