Rivini Dari Wedding Dress

This is an exquisite, classic, sophisticated dress.  It photographs beautifully, was incredibly comfortable to wear, and I absolutely LOVED every second of wearing it for my May 2012 wedding.  I searched every designer in NYC for several months when gown shopping, but knew this dress was perfect as soon as I saw it.

It was bought from the high-end Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier in NYC, was custom-made, and all alterations were done on-site - impeccably - by the Mark Ingram team.  **This particular dress design is actually an exclusive to the Mark Ingram salon, in that it has a sweetheart neckline, while the typical Rivini Dari design has a straight neckline. It's a small thing, but in my opinion the sweetheart neckline made all the difference. Because of the lace and beautiful accordian organza trimming on the typical Dari dress it is actually quite difficult to transform the straight neckline into a sweetheart neckline with alterations, thus I was very happy to find this exclusive design at Mark Ingram. The dress is made of 6 different hand sewn laces (over silk), which lay on top of one another in dramatic, scalloped layers. Each lace is beautiful on its own, but the use of different layered laces gives the dress an even greater level of visual interest and uniqueness. The attached belt adds sparkly detail, making it perfect for both daytime and evening weddings. (My wedding was black tie.) Another very special detail was that I had silk buttons custom added down the entire length of the back of the dress. (The buttons are faux however, and the dress still zippers up the back, which makes getting in and out of it simple.) There is beautiful accordian organza trim around the entire bottom of the gown.

My ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all held inside and I was very careful with the dress all day long. I loved it too much to let it drag on the ground! The dress is in near-perfect condition; I was actually astonished at the end of the night that it still looked so perfect.

I have many more pictures - pleae feel free to email with any questions!

Dress Alterations

I'm generally smaller up top with wider hips, and when I ordered the dress I was approx. 25 lbs. heavier than I am now (a street size 6 on top, 8/10 on bottom). But by the time of the wedding I was a street size 2/4 on top and 4/6 on bottom - thus the difference in dress size pre-alterations (dress was ordered as a size 14) to post-alterations (dress is now street size 4/6). Just wanted to clarify in case anyone is confused... All dress alterations were done in-house by the amazing seamstresses at the Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier, (a high-end NYC salon). They are true experts - they know the gowns they sell inside and out. My dress was taken in at the waist, hips, and bust to accommodate the weight I had lost, but nothing at all was done to change the original design or structure of the dress. The length was altered to suit me (5' 4 1/2") + 5" heels. When I ordered the dress I also had silk buttons custom added down the entire back of the dress (extra $350). I loved them and thought they made the dress even more romantic and elegant. Inside the bust, my seamstress sewed in 4 metal snaps, which snapped perfectly to the long-line bustier I wore. The buttons were meant to keep the dress from sagging or slipping down throughout the day, and they proved invaluable. They were great - I didn't have to touch the dress once to re-adjust it. (The main reason it was so comfortable to wear.) I'm happy to sell the bustier as well - it was bought for $125 from Bloomingdales, will sell for $60 addtl. (It's a nude-colored seamless Le Mystere long-line bustier, size 32D - same as 34C.) Or, the snaps could very easily be removed from inside the dress by a seamstress. (Though I'm almost positive they wouldn't get in the way of anything if you just wanted to leave them there.)

Dry Cleaning/Preservation
