WHAT AND WHY I'M SELLING
Though I ended up eloping, this beautiful dress (new with tags attached) is still waiting for its walk down the aisle! The dress is Mon Cheri 15232. It has thin straps with delicate beading on them that are lovely, though I had personally considered having them removed and making this a strapless dress.
The dress has only been worn for me to try it on and photograph it in my home. Since then, it has been hanging in my closet. Not getting to wear my dress was my lingering disappointment about eloping, so I intended to make my husband take professional photos with me wearing it for our one year anniversary. That time came and went, though, so it's time to find it a new home and make some space in my closet.
I found the cut of the dress to be very flattering, especially with the corset back. In my case, it gave me a little more room for my apple-shape but still let me cinch it up for a feminine shape. It also helped me not worry so much about any minor weight changes before the Big Day That Never Was. :)
The train is a few feet longer than the dress itself. If you need specific measurements, I'm happy to give them.
Colorwise, the photographs make the dress look a little whiter than it does in person. Also, since monitor calibration varies, the shade you see on your monitor may be different than what I see in my photos (which are both going to be a little different from the dress). If color is super important, let me know and I'll try to see if I can take more photos in varying light conditions to give you a more precise idea.
SIZING
I found a size guide online that details the following measurements for Mon Cheri Bridals in size 20:
45 Bust, 36.5 Waist, 48 Hips
While wearing the dress, my external measurements now (which are thicker in the waist but less blessed in the chest than when I bought it!) are:
About 49" Bust, 42" Waist, about 52.5" Hips
Again, the above is measured *over* the dress so it adds a bit. I still have room in the front bust area of the dress as well with those measurements.
I did measure the dress alone straight around the waist with the corset pretty much fully closed and got about 35". So without alterations, I think that is as small as you could go, while the corset will let you go larger. By the time you hit the hip area, the dress is very open and forgiving, so it could easily fit a larger hip size.
CONDITION - NEW, TAGS ATTACHED, BUT NEVER DRY-CLEANED/PRESERVED. SOLD AS-IS.
There is one place in the corset back where the seams holding the loops have come undone, releasing ends of two loops. This does need to be resewn, but as I have zero sewing skills, I am not comfortable reattaching them myself. A photograph of this is included.
I did see one loose thread near the waist, which I have photographed. It does not appear to come from any beading, though.
As you can see from the photos, the fabric is wrinkled. I assume you would have the dress cleaned before wearing, so I figure that won't be an issue, but did want to point it out.
The modesty panel has a few small pulls in the fabric. This goes under the corset straps if desired, so it should not be visible.
In looking over the dress, I did not see any other stains / tears / rips / missing beads beyond what I have described above. However, it is possible that I have missed something. Since the dress was never cleaned / is sold as-is. I am more than happy to go over it in more detail and take additional photographs or even video for a prospective buyer just to ensure you are comfortable with the dress and know what you will be getting.
Thanks for looking. If you have any questions about the dress or would like to see additional photos, please let me know.
