Vera Wang Harlow Wedding Dress
I am selling my Vera Wang, Harlow, wedding dress purchased from Vera Wang at Browns Bride in London, UK in 2014 for my 2015 wedding. I also bought my veil from Browns Bride (it is not a Vera veil) but matches the colour of the Vera dress spot on.
I debated between various Vera dresses but I always came back to the Harlow, which is quietly elegant and has a bouquet of silk that floats behind the dress. This dress is part of Vera’s iconic collection for a reason - it is perfect/timeless. This dress received loads of compliments. The Lord of the privately owned castle where my wedding was held and his wife even complimented my dress.
Here is what Vera has to say about the Harlow: The way a dancer can bring the crowd to its feet with a drawn-out, well-executed pirouette: that’s the excitement I wanted to capture with Harlow. That whole narrative of graceful motion, with its combination of stateliness and energy, makes the bride feel as though she’s in a perfectly-formed cloud when she’s in motion.
There’s no heavy foundation in Harlow, just the nice billowing lightness of tulle and organza, in a pastel shade of Charcoal, a color well-suited to the Modernist, contrasted with beautifully pleated, dusty rose embroidery that spirals out from the waist in the train. Think of Degas’s impressionistic renderings of his dancers’ skirts: very diaphanous, just a color floating around the young woman’s form, accentuating her natural grace and presence. A delicate watteau veil in the back softens that geometric effect of the embroidery in the train—and the contrast of the dusty rose pleats and the charcoal overlay make you understand why the embroidery is so special.
The bodice is very minimalistic, but it has a beautiful, asymmetrical basketweave design to it. There’s a corset there underneath, but all you see is the draping, and how it all weaves together like a raised theater curtain.
I made a very conscious effort to avoid sharp angles in this collection. With the ballerina in mind, I wanted everything to refer back to the fluidity and freshness of those movements. A dancer uses both motion and rest to create her art, and it’s that harmony and that balance at the heart of the ballet that kept on inspiring me throughout my work on this collection, and that’s one of the themes that ties it together.

The dress is in very good condition and is incredibly light as it's silk and it doesn't drag you down or make you feel that the dress is wearing you.
The actual size of the dress is a size 2 (and can be let out to fit a size 2 as all the fabric was kept) but I had it altered to fit my measurements exactly - I am true size 0. I did not make any other alterations to the dress - the length remains untouched as it fit me perfectly when I had my heels on - I am 5’7 and wore 5 inch high heels. I had a bustle added in as there is a long train. I also had cups sewn in as I am a 34A.
I am happy to include the veil for free which cost $400.00
