Dress is an Ivory Satin Sheath with a layer of Champagne Tulle and covered with beautiful Lace Appliques, Pewter embroidery, and exquisite little pearls and sparkly silver and clear beads. Rhinestone straps and sweet pearls down the back give it a real Old Hollywood feel/ Vintage glam appeal.
I tried on many, many dresses, but this is the one that brought a tear to my eye every time I tried it on. I felt so sweet and pure and yet powerful and feminine in the Henley gown. One of the things I appreciated most is how incredibly comfortable it was. It feels like wearing an extravagant nightgown! With its satiny smooth sheath and no pinching or constrictive boning, I could breathe, dance, and move naturally all night long. I really wanted to be present with everyone who was at our wedding and not be distracted by my dress. This gown was so easy in that way.
I also liked that it shows off a good amount of back, shoulders, and chest without being too revealing. I wanted to strike that perfect balance of sexy and demure and the Henley really brings that. With all of the pearl buttons down the back and slinky styling I truly felt like a starlet out of some old movie, but not costume-y, just timeless. I am known for loving bling and this gown delivered the perfect amount. With all of the pearls and beads, pewter stitching, and rhinestone straps I had just the right Sparkle Factor without being over the top. We had an outdoor woodland ceremony and a reception in 1920’s built old National Park Lodge and the gown worked equally well in both locations.
I have an athletic build with ample “junk in the trunk” and this gown hugged my curves perfectly. I had double cups added to really fill out the top (I’m 36B naturally) because I kinda liked the idea of a wedding day boob job ;) But you could take one or both pairs out depending on what you are working with. There were hardly any alterations needed other than to bring in the straps a (tiny) bit and bring up the hemline to 5’9”.
I only wore the dress once and it’s in great shape. There is one pearl button missing from the back (the very bottom button), but I have another one sent from the manufacturer (after dress was professionally cleaned and boxed) and it will be very easy to sew back on. Otherwise, I could see no damage when I inspected the dress.
Honestly- There’s a piece of me that would love to keep this gown for my children or grandchildren, but with a husband whose 6’4”- our babies are probably going to be way to big to ever fit in this dress! But I hope you love it… it really is a gorgeous and glamorous gown!
