This winter wedding on a lovely estate in Taylor, Texas is charming, elegant and delightfully down to earth. I love the photo montage of Sarah + Sam’s first look. What a great idea to pass a written note in arms reach of each other. And just as you finish reading a love letter from your soon to be husband, ta-da! You lock eyes with your life partner, marking the first of many amazing moments on a very special day. Don’t miss Sarah’s stunning Maggie Sottero wedding dress, Camille. When asked why she decided to sell her gown, Sarah shared with us that she would like to buy a new acoustic guitar for her husband. Very cool!
Sarah + Sam | February 15, 2014 | Taylor, Texas | Dress Listing: Maggie Sottero, Camille
The Taylor Mansion & Crystal Ballroom was a one-stop shop for Sam and I. With class and pristine attention to detail, the event planners and floral designer took my requests and went above and beyond what I could have imagined. They took care of mostly everything with style: flowers, centerpieces, catering, ceremony and reception setup and tear-down, cake, and took care of arrangements with their trusted DJ and Bartender. Our ceremony was outdoors on the steps of the Taylor Mansion. The birds were singing as Sam and I said our “I dos” and kissed!
Our reception took place in the Crystal Ballroom – it was spectacular! The wedding’s theme was gold and black, which gave it a very classy feel. Of course, our food was more down to earth. I strayed away from the normal chicken Parmesan plates and we served sausage wraps and baked potatoes, with their choice of chili or broccoli cheddar soup (in addition to salads, and a full drink bar). My guests still rave about how delicious and unique the food was! Again, I couldn’t have executed it all without The Taylor Mansion & Crystal Ballroom. The thing that stood out the most from our reception though, was the dancing. My husband has a loyal and quite goofy set of friends, and the party raved all night until we were ready to say goodbye. We took off through a flurry of sparklers. It was utterly magical.

I tried on about six dresses. This one made me feel like a princess without too much glam. Simple, yet ravishing. I also had a second dress for the reception that I purchased on Etsy.

Why Sarah Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I want to buy my new husband a new acoustic guitar to help him further pursue his passion, so I think that would be the perfect thing to sacrifice my dress for. Also, since I have my reception dress as well, I get to keep a bit of the magic – I call it my glass slipper.
