PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com was created in 2004 after its founder, Josie Daga, unsuccessfully tried to sell her own designer wedding dress through existing methods.

After using ebay, message boards, and a consignment shop, she decided to create a better way to buy and sell new and used designer wedding gowns. "Better" essentially means easier for buyers and easier and more profitable for sellers.

PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com key differences include:

For buyers:

  1. Dresses can be searched by designer, keyword, size, height, silhouette, neckline, price and location. Buyers can chose as many or as few criteria as they would like - making it easy to browse through all dresses and find the perfect one.
  2. Sellers only pays a listing fee (not a percentage of the sale price) - allowing buyers to get the best possible price.
  3. All dress listings contained detailed information about the dress and all listings are posted in the same format -allowing easy browsing and comparison.
  4. Weekly updates of new dress listings are available by (free) mailing list subscription.

For sellers:

  1. Unlike other wedding dress websites, PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com does not place sellers email addresses directly on the site. And it filters and blocks emails from known scam email senders.
  2. Listings do not expire for 12 full months, or until a dress sells (whichever comes first). No commission is charged on the sale.
  3. There is no limit to the amount of description that can be provided about each dress.
  4. Unlike wedding dress consignment, dresses aren't limited to one location and only one source of potential buyers.
