The dress is as good as new, worn once then professionally cleaned and stored. It is made of silky taffeta and has amazing beaded lace applique across the bust line, down the back, and around the hips. It is strapless and a-line. It comes with removable beaded straps if you prefer. This skirt of this dress is made of layer after layer to ensure the dress has a full shape and will never lie flat. There is a built in, hidden corset up the back of the dress and that really helped with pulling my waist line in and making the dress look that much better on. There is a modest train on this dress. This dress is such high quality compared to lesser priced gowns. You can see it in the bead work, corset and in the weight of the layers. I did have some alterations done on the dress, though neither should affect sizing or your interest in purchasing this dress. I had the bust taken in, but I have a DD chest so most people may actually need additional work in that area. My seamstress assured me everyone needs the bust line taken in from these gowns and it wouldn't be a problem to have it taken in again. I also had the dress shortened, but unless you are above 5'7", the dress should still be fine. I am only 5'3", but I wore 5" heels. I also had work done to allow a bustle for the reception. That is when the train of the dress is held up by little hooks. When the train is let down, the hooks are not visible unless you search for them through the layers. This dress has between 12 and 16 hooks to accommodate the various layers. There is a photo of the bustle below. These alterations cost about $300.00.
