Dress Description:

This is a stunning Alvina Valenta mermaid style gown made of crème silk duchess satin. The bodice is a gorgeous ivory Alencon lace "v" neckline with scallop-edge trim and low back. The waistline features ruched silk satin and the gown flutes softly out below the knee. The Alencon lace detail is repeated as a beautiful underlay at the hemline. I purchased this dress from a high-end bridal boutique in downtown Chicago, Illinois. I originally ordered it in July 2006, however, it did not arrive at the boutique for alterations until February 2007. I wore it almost exactly a year ago for my April 2007 wedding and have reluctantly decided to sell it. My husband and I would like to pay down some debt and a dress so gorgeous shouldn't just hang in my closet; it should go to another lucky bride! I have had it professionally dry-cleaned and it is in wonderful condition. The dress was purchased as a size 4 and was then sized down to roughly a size 2. I have spoken to the seamstress who did my alterations and she believes that it could be let out again to fit up to a size 4 and possibly a size 6. In addition, the cups in the bodice were custom-ordered to accommodate a D-cup. But again, this can be taken in for someone with a smaller chest. I wanted my wedding dress to be something classic and eye-catching, but not too traditional or overly "bridal". I felt comfortable, gorgeous, and feminine on my wedding day, and I cannot tell you how many compliments I received on the day and in the months since.
