This lace Alvina Valenta dress was one of my two dresses during the ceremony. I loved the structure and beautiful lace touches from the start, but really fell in love with it after the finishing touches. I still receive an incredible amount of compliments to this day, even from guests in the industry.
The dress was purchased at Wedding Atelier in NYC.
- Ivory silk satin with vanilla colored lining
- Winter white alencon lace from neckline to bodice, trickling down below the empire waist. Alencon lace borders around the flute of the dress, outlining the hemline to the sweeping train.
- Sweethart neckline bordered by alencon lace. The center was altered to expose a deeper v-shaped plunge (only on the lining) beneath the alencon lace. This soft and subtle neckline change recieved numerous compliments. See pictures.
- Silk organza at empire waist
- Long row of buttons followed by inverted pleating at the back (covered zipper)
- Low v-back also bordered by alencon lace
- Fitted throughout the body and flutes out (mermaid) slightly above the knees (passes the sitting test)
I wore this dress during our ceremony for a few hours before changing into a short dance dress. I love all my photos with this dress, but alas, there is no room in our NYC house. If you are in the NY or NJ area, feel free to come see it. It is sealed in a preserved box, but if you are serious about trying it, then I'll take it out from the box.
Description from retailer: Ivory silk duchess satin soft fluted bridal gown. Strapless soft scoop neckline with winter white alencon lace on bodice and Ivory silk organza draping at empire waist. Deep border of winter white alencon lace surrounds hemline and inverted pleat at center back. Covered buttons and loops over zipper down center back, sweep train.
- DRESS ALTERATIONS
- Alteration made to attach the lace proportional to the dress. I wore 3" and 4" heels during the evening. As mentioned in the dress description, the center of the neckline was altered to expose a deeper v-shaped plunge (only on the lining). In other words, while the lace remained a high sweetheart, the satin lining comes down deeper beneath the alencon lace. This change was subtle, yet added a flattering touch, and received numerous compliments. See picture. Sewn in cups can be added for extra shape. Mine were removed during the cleaning process.
