- DRESS DETAILS
-
Are you like me, looking at this dress online because you fell in love with it in a store, and are now trying to find more economical ways to get your perfect dress? I couldn't find a used dress in my size, but hopefully you can! I received so many compliments on this stunning and unique gown. The beautiful texture of the dress photographed incredibly in both color or black & white as you can see from my photos. The contrast of the latte colored gown and the ivory beading adds to the stunning look and is flattering on most skin tones (color closest to the close-up beading shot as other photos look yellowed). Monique really makes more comfortable strapless gowns than anyone else, and I found this particular design best on my 36D bust! I also loved that because the gown is light-weight silk organza, it was not heavy to wear, especially compared to heavy satin gowns (your feet and back will thank you at the end of your very long wedding day!). This was definitely the most flattering dress I tried on. I am 5'7", and wore 2 inch heels. Please email me with any additional questions: rjc178@gmail.comThanks for your interest and good luck with your wedding plans!
- DRESS ALTERATIONS
- On my wedding day, I was street size 8 or 10 (depending on designer) and about 10 pounds thinner than the original measurements (street size 10 or 12 when originally measured), so the label 14 dress was taken in a little all over. It was hemmed to my height, and because of my bigger bust, I ordered the dress with 1 inch added to the original neckline for modesty. You'll see too that the fantastic seamstress at Ultimate Bride in Chicago helped me determine where the pick-ups were most flattering on me, so we made the gown lay a little different than on the photos of size 2 models. Similarly, we removed a bit of the crinoline to make it A-line, and lie flatter. We felt the ribbon at the waist disrupted the beautiful look of the beading/ lace, so this was not included. And I am also not a "bow" girl, so I had the bows removed from the back of the gown, keeping it simple and elegant. Another unique attribute of this dress is custom ivory and silver hand beading. You'll see that the design is slightly different, and flowers are perfectly set to minimize larger busts, and to flatter front and back. Finally, I did not want to have a train at all or to have to deal with bustling the dress, so we added a custom bustle as part of the skirt design. It lies perfectly, as you can see in photos. If you want the train, the fabric is available within the bustle, and would need minimal alterations for this.
