Watters Austin wedding dress.Ivory washed silk organza strapless soft folded ball gown, with self rouched belt and flower detail at waist.This dress was purchased at La Jeune Mariee in Worthington, Ohio in October 2010. It was special ordered and shipped to the store for me to pick up in April 2011. It was worn at my July 16, 2011 indoor wedding and was absolutely perfect! This dress is great for all seasons and is extremely light, free-flowing, and easy to move around in even though it is considered a ball-gown style.The gown has the original Watters brand and size label and the original strings to hang the strapless dress are still attached.I also have the original receipt from La Jeune Mariee and the original hang tag that came with the dress. I will gladly send photos if you would like to see them.When I initially purchased this dress I knew I would be selling it in the future, so I had this in mind the entire wedding day in order to keep the dress as spotless as possible!
- DRESS ALTERATIONS
- It has been altered from the size 4 to fit tighter around the natural waist in order to prevent falling (I wear a size 4 at J.Crew). I didn't need to tug on my dress once during the wedding! It has a five-point french bustle, which is absolutely gorgeous. I almost wore the dress in a bustle for the ceremony because I liked it so much! I am 5'5" and had the dress hemmed to just hit the ground while wearing my 3" heel wedding shoes. A few notes: (1) the five-point french bustle required my very ingenious seamstress to add five very small pearls to the back of the dress in order to anchor the ties. If she had done it the traditional way the ties would be noticeable through the shear fabric. When bustled you cannot see the pearls and unbustled they fall into the folds of the box pleats of the layers of organza. (2) there is a small 1" tear in the organza, bottom back left about 3" up from the hem. This unfortunately happened during photos before the ceremony, but didn't bother me at the wedding as with all the layers of organza you can barely notice it. It could also be mended at home or by a seamstress. If you are interested in purchasing the dress I will gladly send photos of the pearl bustling and the tear and close-ups of the alterations at the waist & bust.
- VEIL / HEADPIECE DESCRIPTION
- With this dress I wore the "Marilyn Veil" by Sara Gabriel. It is an ivory tulle pouf and is also listed on this site. Please let me know if you are interested in both.
- PRESERVATION METHOD
- The dress has been professionally cleaned by Dublin Cleaners in Dublin, Ohio (a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists). It will come shipped with a larger garment bag given by Dublin Cleaners and the original Watters garment bag.
