The most exciting part of planning my wedding was choosing my dress, and this dress was everything I hoped for and more! I fell in love with it the second I saw it.
After searching for dresses in New York, Boston, and other US cities, I came back to this dress that I had seen in an exclusive boutique in Mexico City. The designer is Spanish (José Luis Novias) and for decades, designed wedding dresses for European royals and is one of the most reputable wedding dress designers in Spain. Right after I gave the deposit for my dress, the designer passed away, and prices for his dresses doubled instantly. From the $3,300 price tag I paid, right after his death the dress was $6,600 USD.
I had a beach wedding in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, in an old style Hacienda filled with antiques. My gorgeous dress played the part beautifully. The top is hand sown with beautiful lace and tube detail, and the skirt is a dream! Raw silk tumbles down in beautiful layers, (the style is "wrinkled" so another great thing about the dress is that you don't have to worry about ironing!!! the more wrinkled the skirt, the better it looks!); and my favorite part, which I think makes the dress stand out from others, is that it has a knee high slit, which makes it super sexy and classy at the same time, perfect for a beach wedding! Also, this meant I was able to show off my Jimmy Choos!
Another thing I loved about the gown was how INCREDIBLY light it is! I tried millions of gowns, and was shocked by how much a lot of them weigh! I never once felt uncomfortable in it. It has a slight train, which can be easily pinned up for more comfort.
I am usually a street size 4, 6 on some stores. My bra measurement is 34-B. The dress is not fitted at the hip, so hip size I don't think is an issue.
This dress made me incredibly happy, and played a big part in making my wedding day everything I dreamed of and more! I felt like a million bucks and almost 2 months after my wedding, I keep hearing from guests how amazing my dress was! I can't bare the idea of just storing the dress in a closet, I want another bride to experience the joy I had using this dress! Believe me when I say this dress in UNIQUE! and absolutely gorgeous! I saw dresses that were way out of my budget, just for the fun of it, and no dress, regardless of the price tag, even came CLOSE to this dress.Hope someone will love it as much as I did. - DRESS ALTERATIONS
- The length of the dress was adjusted slightly for my height. My height with heels was 5´8.5 and the dress, on the front, came down to the floor exactly; on the back it has a train. The dress can be easily adjusted for a shorter person, as the entire skirt is made of raw silk layers that can easily be adjusted. My regular height is 5´6.5. The fit on the upper body had only a minor adjustment on the bust area. I am a 34-B and it was a tiny bit too loose on the bust, so it was taken in. The entire upper body can be taken in if needed. There was a slight tear on it that was fixed by a professional with a piece of the original fabric. You can't even notice the patches as the ruffles from the upper part hide it.
