This dress is ADORABLE! Timeless silhouette for a youthful, cheery bride. Perfect for a petite woman, its tea-length hem and emphasis on a tiny waist will not overwhelm a small frame. Some of my favorite attributes: - COLOR - Soft, creamy 'Ivory'. I'm pretty pale, and this dress did not wash me out. - FABRIC - Don't let 'polyester' scare you! The fabric is sturdy and has a wonderful, unique, creamy texture. - LENGTH - I had it altered to be a straight-up tea-length, with a few inches of tulle peeking out of the bottom - NECKLINE - I was not looking for a sweetheart, but the way the dress is draped gave me cleavage that I didn't think was possible!
- DRESS ALTERATIONS
- Two major alterations: LENGTH: The dress originally had this weird short in the front, long in the back hemline. It overwhelmed my small frame, so I had my seamstress shorten the whole thing to one length with a bit of the tulle petticoat (built-in) visible. I kept the fabric from the back, so you could use it to create a halter or something if you wanted. SIZE: I have a pretty scrawny torso, so the store had to order the dress in a size 0, and I still had to have it taken in quite a bit. The tightest part of the dress is just below the breasts - about where your bra falls. At the time of my wedding, I measured about about 26" there. Being small-breasted, I required a good amount of padding and a good strapless bustier bra (34A David's Bridal - included if you want it!). Because the bottom of the dress is full, I could see it fitting - and being flattering! - on virtually any hip measurement.
- VEIL / HEADPIECE DESCRIPTION
- *NOT INCLUDED* I wore a beautiful hand-made headband by Midori Designs (http://www.etsy.com/shop/midoridesigns?ref=ss_profile), rather than a veil. It was made specifically to match the color and texture of the dress and mimic'd the flower on the front. Cost was only about $40.
- PRESERVATION METHOD
- It's been hanging in the dress bag in my bedroom, safe and sound, and has been dry-cleaned (but not preserved) since my wedding.
