- DRESS DETAILS
-
I absolutely love my dress. It could not have been more perfect for the wedding I had envisioned. I felt like a princess on the happiest day of my life, and my hope and prayer is that this dress makes you feel as radiant and lovely as I did. That's the way every girl should feel on her wedding day.
The dress is a lovely ivory tone, which compliments every skin color and will make you look gorgeous. The fabric is a silky taffeta. I got married in Florida in July and barely felt the heat. I will include the crinoline (the separate petticoat to be worn underneath the dress to give it extra oomph) FREE OF CHARGE.
I fell in love with the beadwork from the moment I lay eyes on the dress. I have to say, it was the first dress I tried on at a lovely boutique in Naples, and I knew from that moment that any other dress would be hard-pressed to compete. The beadwork is exquisite, yet subtle. You want people to look at YOU on your wedding day, not at your dress. But you want the dress to showcase your natural radiance. The beadwork did just that. There is a lovely sprinkling of rhinestone and sequins across the bodice and neckline, and then a lovely cluster on the left hip. The dress has a modified A-line dropped waist, which highlights a slim waist and feminine hips.
The dress has an inner corset which definitely helps accentuate your tiny waist (even if you pay the price of not breathing quite as fully). I was astounded at how much smaller my waist appeared. There's also the wonderful convenience of a zipper to hide the corset, and then a row of beautiful fabric covered buttons to cover the zipper. Be forewarned: the lady who sold me the dress wisely handed my bridesmaid a pen cap to pass on to my husband - which he was VERY grateful for later in the night when it came time to tackle that row of buttons!
The dress has a French bustle, which I adored and found very unique - a French bustle is one that bustles at the side of the dress, specifically at the left hip right by the cluster of beadwork. This gives the dress a beautiful flow from one side to the other, and creates a fantastic movement when you spin. The bustling is accomplished through several eyehooks hidden across the back of the dress. They are easily seen if you know where to look. It was wonderful having the nice train for the church ceremony and photographs, but I appreciated not having a huge hump on my rear during the party and dancing. The French bustle just had a cleaner look.
I am 5'7'' and wore modest heels (I would guess 3 inches) with this dress and you rarely ever saw them. The dress was a perfect length for heels. Might I recommend something I didn't do - wear a really fun pair of heels, perhaps red or hot pink. It's so fun to catch a glimpse of color under the sea of white.
I can't say enough about this dress. It has the character of glossy whipped cream and just looks divine when worn. It comes alive and has this glorious movement and really captures the essence (at least for me) of a wedding dress. It is elegant and classic, yet the dropped waist gives it edge. It is traditional in length, yet unique in the bustle. It is understated, radiant, and absolutely perfect.
It is also relatively easy to put on, if you have one other person to help you. From start to finish, it probably takes 10-15 minutes, but most of that time is spent tying the corset and doing the buttons. You don't have to worry about mussing your hair, either, as you can easily step into the dress and pull it up around you. I recommend, if you use a crinoline, to put the dress on first and then the crinoline underneath.
All the pictures I included are of myself and of the actual dress I am selling. But if you'd like to see one of Anjolique's stock photos of the dress, visit this page: http://store.perfectbridal.com/product_p/anj_965.htm.
As to the wear and tear, obviously this is a used dress. I wore it on my wedding day and had a fabulous time in it. But I did not tromp through mud or jump in the ocean as some women are wont to do. The pictures you see where I am not wearing the veil are recent photos, although I am not wearing the crinoline (hence the slightly less full skirt). The dress is still in great condition. There are some stains at the bottom hemline from the general walking I did. If I were going to buy my dress online used, I would have had it cleaned again, even if the seller claimed it had been cleaned. So I am going to try and save myself that money. If it's a dealbreaker for you, and you insist that your purchased dress be cleaned, please don't hesitate to let me know and we can negotiate that.
I simply love this dress and even now am having a tough time parting with it. But I know that there is a girl out there with the dream of a perfect wedding, and this dress will be just the right one to make her dream come true. So, friend, I am doing this for YOU.
- DRESS ALTERATIONS
- The dress was originally a size 6. It was altered to fit my body specs: Bustline (36 3/4), Waist (28), Hips (39 1/4). Crinoline to add fullness to skirt included FREE OF CHARGE.
- VEIL / HEADPIECE DESCRIPTION
- I wore a very simple veil with this dress, not too long and sprinkled with rhinestones. I'm not planning to sell the veil, but if you love it in the pictures, feel free to make me an offer. I might just cave!
- PRESERVATION METHOD
- None, other than dress bag. Am willing to negotiate cleaning pre-shipping. Personally, if I had known this site existed before getting married and had ordered my dress here, I would have had it cleaned regardless of whether had been done already.
