This dress was worn once, at my wedding in 1986. It was professionally cleaned, preserved, and boxed immediately, and has only been opened recently to check on condition (unchanged). I loved this dress - I looked long and hard to find a dress with no lace and that would be comfortable to wear and dance in. It feels like a true ball gown. It is all one fabric, a soft, white satin. It is beautifully tailored in a very figure flattering design. The neckline is very flattering with a large open collar. There are two silk roses at the inside corners near the sleeves. The large flower at midchest is a live gardenia - I removed the silk flower that shows in the fitting photo. The dropped waist comes to a V in the center and is very slimming. The sides are elegantly gathered at the hips. The detail at the rear repeats the V in the front and is accented by a silk flower. The full skirt is lined with filled out with an inner layer of netting. The sleeves are gently gathered. The hat is trimmed with swags of beads and anchored with a puff of netting. There are two combs to hold it in place.
