This Richard Glasgow Original gown was purchased at a prestigious The Wedding Salon of Manhasett, in Manhasset, NY.
The dress is off white, with intricate beading along the bust and covered buttons all the way down the back (with hidden zipper underneath.) A french bustle is sewn inside for easy bustling (ties are numbered to make bustling a snap.) And, an adjustable corset is built in, with removable bust enhancing pads.
I met with Richard Glasgow in person during his trunk show in Manhasset. I was not finding "the" dress, and he eventually brought out this dress from the back room. He told me he bought the fabric in France, made the gown as a sample, and then never exactly replicated it as he was unable to find the exact fabric again. It is truly one of a kind.
I wore the dress once for my wedding in September 2006. The gown was professionally cleaned immediately after the wedding and has been stored in a garment box with heat and light protection ever since. I have only opened the box now in order to take more detailed photos.
- DRESS ALTERATIONS
- I'm not sure of the exact size of the dress. However it was fitted for me, and I was size 4, 115 pounds. This dress was hemmed to match my height (5’ exactly). I wore 3.5” heels. To be honest, I lost a few pounds the week of my wedding, and the dress was a little big on me. So, there is room here either way for altering the size.
- VEIL / HEADPIECE DESCRIPTION
- I wore a crystal headpiece and had two veils. Each of the three pieces were made by Richard's team, specifically to match my dress. I wore a cathedral veil for the ceremony, with a double tier veil above it. I removed the cathedral for the reception, leaving just the double-tier veil. Later, I wore just the headpiece. I still have the double-tier and headpiece for sale.
