This Celtic silk empire v-neck gown with beaded bust detail was the perfect dress for my Hawaii beach wedding! Elegant yet uniquely casual - it was a dress that made me feel so beautiful and comfortable for the entire evening. Worn once in December 2009 in Oahu, Hawaii. *** **DETAILS:** - Material: Ivory silk chiffon - Lining: Ivory silk charmeuse - Bust details: Ivory and silver thread embroidery accented with seed pearls and crystals (see photo for close-up) - Neckline: Deep v-neck - Fit: Empire waist. Thin spaghetti straps. Silk chiffon gown material is abundant and creates a gorgeous drape that pools at the bottom of the dress. Single hidden zipper in back. Worn with a strapless bra. *** **CONDITION:** No marks or stains on detailed bust embroidery or upper length of dress. The iron-rich volcanic soils of Hawaii are tough on wedding dresses. Ever hear of the Red Dirt Shirts? Well, it made for difficult cleaning on the bottom portion of the wedding dress. On the last 2-3" of the gown, there are several red dirt stains that my professional dry cleaner was not able to remove and did not want to risk harsher cleaning methods. Stains vary in size and intensity and are scattered along the bottom hem. Front of gown has overall fewer stains than back of gown. Due to the draping and gathering of the dress material, some stains are hidden in the gown's natural folds. I have taken a shot of what is the most noticeable stain which is in the back center hem of the gown. The rest of the dress is in great condition (no stains/marks) --- therefore, it is recommended that the bride remove at least 2-3" of the bottom hem as part of the tailoring process to create a perfect dress. ***THIS DRESS IS MOST SUITABLE FOR A BRIDE WHOSE OVERALL HEIGHT (INCLUDING SHOES) WILL NOT EXCEED 5'5" ON HER WEDDING DAY.*** I am 5 foot 5 inches tall and wore 3 inch heels on my wedding day. There is more length on the back of the dress than on the front (created a slight train effect). ***IT WOULD ALSO BE GREAT AS A SHORTENED COCKTAIL/RECEPTION DRESS FOR A BRIDE OF ANY HEIGHT.*** Please contact seller for additional information or photos. - DRESS ALTERATIONS
- Nicole Miller Size 8 was tailored to fit a 33.5" bust with B cups. The straps were also shortened to improved fit. Length of dress was shortened to fit a 5'5" tall woman wearing 3" heels. Due to the volcanic soil stains on the bottom of the dress, it is recommended that at least 2" of hem be removed from the front of the dress and at least 3" of hem removed from the back of the dress (the backside has more fabric than the front). THIS DRESS IS MOST SUITABLE FOR A BRIDE WHOSE OVERALL HEIGHT (INCLUDING SHOES) WILL NOT EXCEED 5'5" ON HER WEDDING DAY. Perfect for a barefoot bride on the beach! I have also considered shortening the gown into a cocktail length as it would also look beautiful as a reception dress. I have saved the original 5" of hem (inner lining and outer chiffon) that was removed during the tailoring process. Great for a crafter who wants to incorporate the material into her bouquets.
