The dress is intended to be a modern take on the gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady." It is hand-sewn gown with imported french lace, satin, silk chiffon, and has pearl and Swarovski crystal beading. The imported french lace material was cut into patterns, then placed and hand-sewn onto the silk chiffon in beautiful motifs around the bodice, waist, and hem of the dress.
The gown has a silk sheath spaghetti strap under layer with a rounded neckline and back. The top layer is sheer silk chiffon with lace, pearl and crystal beading, a soft rounded neck, zipper back (with false silk covered buttons) cap sleeves, round back. The two layers are attached at the bottom of the dress. This way the train flows with the silk gown underneath.
This dress is very accommodating because the layers are cut on the bias. This means they hang nicely on the body and stretch a bit if needed. It was designed as small size 4, however, I gained a weight before the wedding and was a size 6 and it still fit!!!
Bust line can accommodate 32C or 34B. Waist fits 26" - 29" waistline.
It feels AMAZING ON! No seriously, you'll want to sleep in it - the silk in this dress is incredible.
- DRESS ALTERATIONS
- The only alterations made to the gown are to the crystals on the cap sleeves. The Swarovski crystals proved to be a bit too heavy and so we replaced them with a lighter-weight counterfeit. The strap of the silk under-layer was re-attached after an accidental pull in removing it from the box.
- VEIL / HEADPIECE DESCRIPTION
- Beautiful Vail of tulle, double layered, and lined with silk edging. I originally didn't want a Vail - but when she put this on me with the dress --- it was absolutely stunning!
- PRESERVATION METHOD
- Paid $500 to have it properly preserved. It has been removed from the preservation box and placed on a mannequin for the last week. I will happily have it steamed and placed back into the archival preservative box before sending it to you.
