Custom-made couture peau de soie satin and organza gown. This Vwidon gown was made by the designer herself at her Chicago bridal salon. Website is http://www.vwidon.com This is an absolutely gorgeous, very unique dress that I got so many compliments on! The style suited me perfectly - I looked at a lot of dresses, but as soon as I put this one on, I knew it was the one. I didn't want something traditional at all - I wanted fun and contemporary. The bonus was that VWIDON custom makes all of their gowns, so I knew it would fit me perfectly. I'm going to be completely honest here....I have hips. Always have, always will. Carla designed the most flattering line possible for me, and I think she did a fantastic job. The A-Line skirt is covered in organza circles. This is my absolute favorite part of the gown and just made it so fun and unconventional. I did lose about 10 of these circles over the course of my wedding day. There are so many of them that you wouldn't notice unless you were looking for them. However, if you wanted to replace the missing ones, you could probably get some extra circles directly from VWIDON. Carla custom made a wrap so that I could wear it in church. It hooks in the back so you don't have to worry about it slipping, sliding or falling off. I had no problems with it whatsoever, and it looked fantastic! The way she folded the organza is very artistic....hopefully you can see that in some of the photos. I am 5'2" and wore 2.5" heels with this dress. The bodice is a double layer of peau de soie satin, with 6 bones to keep everything up. The skirt is also peau de soie satin, lined with silk. On top of the satin is a layer of organza, and on top of that are the organza circles that are tacked on. Since the dress has been cleaned, preserved, and stored, the circles have folded themselves - most are in 2 folds. Take a circle, fold it in half, and fold that in half - like a wedge of pie. I think it looks great this way, but you can also take it and have the circles steamed out so that they lie open again. Also, the circles have softness to the edge, like they are fraying just a bit. Again, I think it looks great, but it doesn't have that newly cut look. It looks feathery. Upon careful examination, there are a few small pulls in the peau de soie of the skirt, at the very bottom of the hemline. The organza layer goes over that, so you'll never see it. The gown does not have a size sewn in, so I'm just guessing. Depending on the style, I normally wear a size 6 or 8 dress, but it could be a 10. Again, depends on the style.
