Dress Details
This is a beautiful Carolina Herrera Fall 2008 collection empire waist silk chiffon dress, with an embroidered (rhinestone) waistband. It was purchased by my sister-in-law for me at Saks in NY in January 2009. I wore it once for my wedding in July 2009 in Tokyo, Japan. I love how elegant but casual (unfussy) it is, and I got a lot of comments from my guests saying that it made me look like a Greek goddess. It was very easy to move around in, and I felt extrememly comfortable the whole day long. It was sad to take it off because the day was over so quickly, but I would be extremely happy if this dress brings joy to someone else.
A chiffon wedding dress emphasizes the feminine parts of the body. If you are looking for floating silhouettes, which look very romantic, then this is your dress. It is inspired from the ancient Greco-Roman chic look and simply wearing such a dress makes a woman feel like a symbol of beauty. This chiffon wedding dress helps to slim the figure and the high empire waist silhouettes make a woman's figure longer and complement any bust size.
The best part about this chiffon wedding dress was that it was extrememly comfortable. It has a light weight and airy structure. The dress even seems cool when the outside air temperature is hot. If you want to look fresh and relaxed for the pictures, video and memories of the wedding day, then this is your dress.
Dress Alterations
The dress was purchased a size 8. The sales lady said that wedding dresses usually run very small, so if you are a 2-4 you should get a 4-6 dress, and if your a 4-6 an 8 would be good. I had it professionally altered to better fit around my chest. It originally fit my sister-in-law who is a 34C when she tried it on, and now that it is altered it fits me at 30B. You can keep it small, or undo the seams to make it roomier again. The great thing about this dress is that the only part that is fitting is around the chest, so it can fit any kind of waist or hip size : ) It will be altered very easily.
Veil / Headpiece Description
The first veil is an elegant veil I chose for the church ceremony from veilshop.com. It is a 70" drop veil with a fine embroidered edge finish. * Pull forward or backward on head to adjust to length desired * 70" circular shape * Held in place with a hat pin (provided) * Made from Bridal Illusion (very soft tulle) The second 32"long silver beaded veil was chosen by my sister-in-law at a shop called "Prudence" in NY. Since the wedding dress has rhinestones, she chose a veil with silver beaded embroidery. It comes with a comb but it doesn't have a blusher, so I used this stylish veil for the reception. It stays out of your face and matches the dress well. You can see both types of veils in the pictures. I also have matching rhinestone peep toe wedding shoes in white satin 8 1/2 M. Please ask for it and I can add it for $60. http://perfectdetails.com/mm5/graphics/00000002/gwenth_xl.jpg
