Dress Description:

Beautiful Barbra Allin design. The dress was a new design in the Fall of 2008, when I bought it. I bought the dress at Beckers Bridal, in Toronto, where the designer makes the dresses. http://www.beckersbridals.com/BarbraAllinBridal/BarbraAllinBridal.html

I was instantly drawn to its beautiful lines and asymmetrical appearance. The dress is made from stunning raw silk and is VERY light and easy to wear. The ruched bodice is a flattering look on many body types and the asymmetrical pick-ups in the skirt are stunning and funky at the same time. There are 3 points to bustle the train of the dress underneath (one button in the middle and 2 points with 3 ties each), to create gorgeous gathers in the back and a great length for dancing. There is a full zipper in the back with buttons sewn beside to give the beautiful buttoned appearance.

The colour is the natural raw silk, called “dark natural”, which is just off white. There are 2 small handmade silk flowers on the left hip, which can be removed but add a perfect touch for a fun and whimsical look.

I bought this dress as a size 8 and only had a bit taken in. The gown was altered at the bust (bra size 34B), waist (29") and length (5'10" with shoes). (Note - I am 5'8" and 135 lbs, street size is roughly a 6). I had 2 padded cups sewn in which are included with the dress (removed for cleaning but can be reattached). The body also has soft support-stays sewn in to help keep the dress up and hold the bodice shape while the dress is on.

The dress is in great shape. I only wore this dress once and it has been cleaned to almost new. A couple ties for the bustle (inside lining) had pulled out while dancing but I have taken it back the to seamstress and had them re-sewn. One thread in the silk on the train has been slightly pulled, and is only vaguely noticeable when the train is down. It's hard to even notice because of the texture of the raw silk but just want to be totally honest.
