Important Information for Buyers
As always when buying something from the internet, you should take steps to protect yourself during the purchase. If you have found a wedding dress on our site, there are several things you should do:
- Know the gown's retail price. Go to the designer's website, online wedding retailers, or to your local store to see the gown's price. Researching this price will help you negotiate the amount for which you purchase the gown. Ask the seller for a copy of her original receipt if she has it.
- Ask specific questions about the condition of the gown and any flaws or defects that may exist. Ask the seller to send you photos from every angle if necessary.
- Protect yourself during the money exchange: You can:
- For transactions under $1000, pay with paypal. Paying with paypal is free for the buyer (the seller pays a small fee) and offers purchase protection for up to $1000. Learn more about paypal buyer protection.
- For transactions over $1000, pay with escrow.com which protects both the buyer and seller with a simple, 5-step trust process. Learn more about how escrow.com works. Escrow.com is recommended by ebay and by yahoo.
- Request shipment with UPS COD service. When this service is used, the seller ships the gown to you (via UPS) and you pay UPS when the gown arrives. UPS then in turn forwards the payment to the seller. Learn more about UPS COD shipping.
- Know the following information about the seller and gown you are purchasing:
- Name
- Street Address
- City/State/Prov
- Zip/ Postal Code
- Phone (day)
- Phone (night)
- Email
- Is seller original owner?
- Is gown designer authentic?
- Is there proof of authenticity?
- What alterations have been made?
- How was the gown preserved?
- What are the details on any stains, tears, rips, or other imperfections?
Ultimately, it comes down to being smart and trusting your instincts. We have never had a complaint about an unresolved issue - but you know what they say about an ounce of prevention....
Congratulations on finding your gown and good luck with the rest of your wedding planning!
