Real Wedding | Kara + Derek

You couldn’t order up a more perfect setting, or perfect day, than the one Kara and Derek enjoyed at their wedding. The gorgeous Lake Tahoe shoreline was the dramatic backdrop when they said “I do.” Then, an intimate group of family and friends celebrated with the bride and groom at the historic Thunderbird Lodge. Heartfelt toasts, fabulous food, and kick-up-your-stilettos dancing, made it a night to remember. Congrats!

Kara + Derek | July 7, 2011 | Thunderbird Lodge, Lake Tahoe, California

The ceremony

We had a traditional wedding ceremony and our Lutheran pastor married us. The Lake Tahoe location was absolutely beautiful, as you will see from the photos.

The reception

We had a very relaxed reception. We began with a two hours of cocktails and passed appetizers, and Hors d’oeuvre Stations. We also offered tours of the estate and the underground tunnels. Afterwards, we had sunset dancing in the famous light house room. Followed by an after party at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe.

The way Kara felt in her wedding dress

Stunning, Beautiful, like an Absolute Show Stopper

Why Kara decided to sell her wedding dress

It is very hard to part with the dress, but honest truth is I’m only going to wear it once and I would like it to be a part of someone else’s special day.  Every bride deserves to feel as amazing as I did.

Real Wedding | Kristin + Dueane

Kristin and Dueane’s island wedding is so full of charming details and warm traditions that you’ll wish you had been a guest at this fabulous wedding! Modern music and personalized vows were an unexpected treat for guests. As Kristin walked down the aisle on her father’s arm, guests handed her single stem flowers, which created her lovely bouquet. Dinner, dancing and an impromptu jam session were the perfect ways to complete this celebration. And through it all, Kristin looked amazing in the dream gown she just couldn’t forget. Cheers!

Kristin + Dueane | April 29, 2010 | Bermuda

The ceremony

The ceremony was held at a small public park, Somers Garden, in our neighbourhood of St. George’s.  It provided a beautiful, natural backdrop for our very personal ceremony.  As the bridesmaids came around the corner, they were met by groomsmen and walked down the aisle to Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Then my father walked me down the aisle to Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith.  As I came down the aisle, I stopped to hug and kiss people in the audience that were important to me, and they’d each hand me a flower, thus creating my bouquet.

After the ceremony, we kissed, and the whole wedding party danced out to I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas while the crowd showered us with confetti.  (Environmentally-friendly of course… )

The reception

Our reception was at a private residence, the home of my boss, an old army barracks that he has renovated into one of the most beautiful homes on the island.  The wedding party had already headed to the reception so that Dueane and I could get our ‘couple’s photos’ taken privately, then they rejoined us when we arrived for the walk in.  We walked in to All Dressed in Love by Jennifer Hudson, and immediately had our first dance to You’ll Never Find by Jah Cure.

Our table centrepieces featured items from places that Dueane and I had visited, our own items that we love – masks from Malaysia, Bowls from Namibia, Carvings from Belize and so on, with a small card explaining each item.  Our favourite casual restaurant provided the food, all Jamaican yumminess.  And then it was time for speeches, cake, and DANCING!!  We love music – I play the drums and Dueane plays guitar – so  we had invited our guests to bring instruments for a jam session.

How Kristin felt in her wedding dress

I’m freakin’ BEAUTIFUL!

Why she decided to sell her wedding dress

My wedding dress search took a long time.  The selection was quite limited in Bermuda at that time so I travelled to New York and spent a week in and out of salons. I must’ve tried on about 40 dresses!  In the end, I left without a dress, as I couldn’t decide.  But on the way home, one of the dresses kept coming back to me.  I remembered thinking how this one was so beautiful and classic, and yet it still had a very whimsical feel.  I couldn’t get it out of my mind.  It made me look amazing, and sexy and glamourous and just altogether fabulous. And that’s how I felt when I put it on again on my wedding day.

And now, the dress is just sitting in the closet, not having anyone feel amazing, and sexy and altogether fabulous. It deserves the chance to have a bride’s groom look at her and say, that is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen.  Yep… it deserves another wedding!

Real Wedding | Jenn + Aaron

Attention all brides planning December nuptials – Jenn and Aaron’s winter wedding is here for you!

This wedding is classy, and full of festive charm.  I love the Christmas tree and fireplace at the alter, and how every room at the Lyman Estate just envelopes you in warm lighting and incredible historic Boston architecture.  Don’t miss the detail on Jenn’s Melissa Sweet silk taffeta gown: Jenn explains, “To accentuate the decor of the Victorian wedding venue, the flower on the left side of the dress was replaced with a crystal brooch.”  Perfect!

Jenn + Aaron | December 4th 2010 | The Lyman Estate, Waltham, MA

The Ceremony
Aaron and I met and courted in Boston, so even though neither one of us are from the city, we wanted to be married there. We were married at the Lyman Estate, built in 1793 and home to one of the oldest surviving greenhouses in the US. The greenhouses still shelter grapevines planted in 1870 and 100-year-old camellia trees. When we found this place, we fell in love with it and its quintessential Boston architecture, full of history and beauty.

The Reception
Our first date was going out dancing, so we wanted the reception to be full of it. The dance floor was packed with all our friends and family, we had to tear down more tables to create a larger dance floor. Our food from Cuisine Chez Vous was tremendous, even for my family full of foodies. The night was a blast. One of the best nights of our lives.

How Jenn Felt in Her Wedding Dress

Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

Why Jenn Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I did not want such beauty to sit in my closet when someone else could get a deal for their gorgeous wedding day.

Real Wedding | Eva + Erik

Eva and Erik’s destination wedding was inspired by their early travels together to Eva’s birthplace in Indonesia.  I love that the couple wanted Bali to “…also be the place where we started our journey together as husband and wife”. This wedding is a delicious mix of exotic elegance.  The balance between the fresh, lush outdoor ceremony is thoughtfully contrasted with the intimate and sophisticated interior of their private dinning room reception.  Eva looks gorgeous in her Melissa Sweet gown and her petite Kate Spade heels are just as sweet!

Eva + Erik | November 7, 2010 | Blue Point Chapel, Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia

The Ceremony
I am originally from Indonesia. I wanted to have our wedding there so my family could attend the wedding. After several discussions, we decided that Bali was the best place to bring both of our families together. Not only was it beautiful, but we also knew that all of our guests would have a good time. It was also the first place that we both traveled together as a couple – so it only seemed right that it also be the place where we started our journey together as husband and wife. The wedding turned out great – Erik’s family and some of our friends who came from the U.S. had a little taste of Indonesian culture and most importantly everyone was enjoying themselves.  We were married at Blue Point Chapel in Uluwatu, Bali. We had 18 people at our wedding, including us! It was very intimate, just the way we wanted it to be. For our ceremony, we had 2 violinists and 1 keyboard player playing Pachelbel’s Canon in D. It was beautiful and heart warming.

Before our wedding, I had never met my wedding organizer or seen any of her company’s work in person other than on the pictures that she sent. We only communicated through email and phone call. When I walked to the chapel on the wedding day, I was completely blown away by the decorations. The flower arrangements were breathtaking. There were pink and white roses and pink gerber daisies on each seat, but what impressed me the most was the carpet made of pink and white flower petals at the center of the aisle. As I walked down the aisle, I saw Erik looking handsome in his tuxedo with his eyes on me. It felt like a dream!

The Reception
For our wedding reception, we gathered back at our hotel where we had a very casual celebration. We were all sitting around one big table just like a family in the private dining room. Both of our families learned more about each other while the restaurant played Italian classics as the background music. We had Indonesian fusion seafood dinner. My favorite was the appetizer, hamachi in yuzu sauce. The main dish was Balinese style barbecue swordfish, prawns and calamari served with red rice. Our guests were impressed by the presentation of the lemon sorbet served in a bulb shaped ice cube!

How Eva Felt in Her Wedding Dress
I felt like a million bucks when I put on the dress for the first time so I knew it was “the dress” for me. I certainly felt elegant and beautiful.

Why Eva Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
As much as I love my dress, I do not intend to wear it again in the future. I would like to pass it on to somebody else so she can feel special on her wedding day.
