In the fairy-tale wedding of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin, the smart, sweet, pretty girl marries the dashing bachelor in lavish ceremony and an exquisite designer gown. The now Mrs. George Clooney says she wanted her dress to be “romantic and elegant” and working with Oscar de la Renta was “magical.”
Amal’s wedding dress was created with ivory tulle appliquéd with 14 yards of Chantilly lace. The gown’s bodice featured beading and crystals. The overall look communicated an effortless grace and stylish sophistication.

As the year draws to an end, I couldn’t help but take a look back at my favorite celebrity wedding dresses of the year. This year’s celebrity wedding list also includes the wedding of the century, and not surprisingly, Kate Middleton’s beyond gorgeous dress is the very first on my favorite list.
Kate gracefully navigated the tremendous pressures of selecting the perfect gown while under the world’s microscope. She chose a dress that both suited her own personal style and personality and was completely appropriate for her grand Royal Wedding. Not only was her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress elegant and beautiful, but this iconic dress reintroduced and romanticized lace and sleeves.
Following Kate Middleton’s wedding, US designers and other celebrity brides continued to embraced the trend away from strapless. Each of the following celebrity wedding gowns was not only beautiful, but truly reflected the bride’s own unique style. (Just what a wedding dress should do.)

Classic and understated gowns will always be a favorite of mine. Simplicity speaks volumes and truly showcases a bride’s radiance. I love Reese Witherspoon’s gown for its modern blush pink hue, and Lily Aldridge’s Vera Wang is so beautiful and timeless that her wedding photos will never be dated.

Looking back at the year’s glamorous celebrity wedding gowns, there are six gowns that make my favorites list. The ruffles, tiers and textures found in the skirts is so on-trend. And of course we love that Kim Zolciak has embraced the trend towards buying preowned!
With its rich history, graceful Southern charm and gorgeous architecture, it’s easy to see why people love Charleston. And it’s no wonder Susan Sarandon’s daughter, Eva Amurri, choose the location for her October 29th wedding.
Eva took her love of Charleston one step further when she selected a Lela Rose custom gown based on Rose’s “The Woods” dress.
The seven gowns from Lela Rose’s Fall 2012 collection were inspired by the beautiful places to get married in Charleston. Eva fell in love with a picture of the gown and asked Lela Rose to create a custom version for her. A Charleston wedding and a Charleston inspired dress. It was just meant to be.

I really like how Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey handled their wedding. Despite the media’s desire to chatter about Nick and Jessica’s race to the altar, they kept their focus on their wedding and making it personal and perfect for them.
Held on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Necker Island (wow!), they celebrated their marriage in front of only 35 guests. (Although the TLC cameras were rolling for a future TV show).
And while there are only a few sneak peeks of Vanessa’s gown available, I’m already giddy over her “two-piece Monique Lhullier wedding dress with a hand tufted skirt made of silk faille and a bow belt at the waist.”
Her gown is classic and feminine. A perfect selection for a traditional bride and a breathtaking, dramatic venue.
