My New Full-Time Job

Favor assembly time!

Well, this is it: May 5th. We’re officially one month away from Wedding Time. I think I say this every week–the time has gone so quickly! And it’s still being swallowed up with every day that passes.

This last week I finished up work and made the (long, long, 19-hour drive) move home in order to work full-time on wedding stuff during May. In reality, the time is really limited, because I’m going back out to Colorado two weeks from tomorrow for Jarrod’s graduation, and then flying back here on the 27th, a measly ten days before the wedding. Yikers. So I’ve literally been working full-time on this stinkin’ celebration of love.

I can safely say that I’m on task though. Yesterday was my favor-assembling day. I’m actually surprised at how long it didn’t take me. I mean, really all I had to do was stuff 150 little lavender sachets with three tea bags and a quote card. The longest time-consumer was the note card, because, even though there were only six quotes to a page of notebook paper, I had to trim each individual one down to size after cutting the page into sixths. And boy do I love papercutting.

The finished product.

Well anyway, I think we got a pretty cute product. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work for the bag to be pulled shut, as it would wrinkle the tea and the quote card, but I think they’ll look fine just sitting at the places. I would be excited to get one if I were a guest. Hopefully my guests think the same.

Today was my shopping day. I got two red photo albums at Target that I’ll put pictures of Jarrod and me into on Friday. It will give the guests something to flip through while our pictures are being taken between the ceremony and the reception. I’ve also got a “photo tree” up my sleeve…we’ll see how that turns out.

I also got a few more attendant gifts today–just silly cheap mugs from the Salvation Army. You’d be amazed at the strange assortment of mugs they have there. From a pair of pastel rollerskating bunnies to an advertisement for quality control in Dorel cigarettes…They’re all great. And they tie in the tea theme!

RSVP’s are still filtering in slowly. We’ve got 101 people as of today, and several more who have word-of-mouth committed, but who we don’t officially have down yet. It’s a little bit nerve-wracking, because the florist needs a final table count by Friday, but we only have 2/3rds of the people we had planned for. I think I’m probably still going to go with expecting 150 people, and let this be a lesson to me to RSVP as soon as I’m invited to any event!

Anyway, that’s just a smattering of what I’ve been up to in the last week. Tomorrow I’m going to get my dress bustled, and it’s also meet-with-cake-people day, so that should be fun. I’ll keep you all posted. 31 days!
