Wedding Dresses That Flatter Apple Shapes

Your dream wedding dress will not only express your personality (and make your heart beat a little faster when you put it on), it will also flatter your shape.  It will highlight your best features and balance the ones you don’t love quite as much.

The best way to find that gown is really know what works for your body. And if you have an apple shape (widest at the waistline), here are out style tips to help you find a gown that looks amazing on you:

  • Draw attention upwards with interesting necklines.  Pretty details and low/ plunging necklines do a great job of this.
  • Elongate your silhouette with a high waistline and a skirt that flows away from the body. Empire waistlines and A-line silhouettes typically work best.
  • Why not showcase your legs with a short dress? (They are so fantastic for a bride who wants a modern look).

There’s a Story Behind Every Wedding Dress

Every bride in the world will tell you there is a story behind her wedding dress.  A story about how she found it.  About how she felt when she put it on.  And about what the dress says about her and her wedding.  Sometimes, there’s also a good story is about what not to do when looking for your dream dress.

If you want to read exactly what not to do when wedding dress shopping, take a peek at Traci’s post about her first (hilarious) wedding dress shopping experience.  All’s well that end well, (including finding this gorgeous Romona Keveza gown).

But among the tips on Traci’s do not list: do not go shopping without an appointment.  Do not visit a salon that carries dresses beyond your price point.  Do not go without your hair and makeup done. And do not forget to wear the proper undergarments! (and yes, there is an story behind what happens if you don’t)!

Have you got a story about your wedding dress?  We’d love to hear it!
